Mediacorp Young Lions Competition 2018 FAQ
Registration
Q: When is the registration deadline?
A: Registration closes Thursday 15 March 2018, 15:00.
Q: Can I enter in all categories?
A: Each individual may only be registered on one team, and each team can only compete in one category.
Q: Can I enter without a partner?
A: No. You must have a partner in order to be eligible. The reason for this is that in Cannes, participation is limited to two-person teams and we try to emulate the typical Cannes experience.
Q: Can I enter with more than one partner (ie; a team of 3)?
A: No. Entry is limited to two-person teams only.
Q: Who can enter?
A: The Mediacorp Young Lions Competition is open to young creatives currently working in advertising and communications businesses. Participants must be Singaporeans or Singapore permanent residents, born after 22 June 1987 to qualify.
Q: Do my partner and I need to be employed at the same place?
A: No, you and your partner may be employed by different agencies.
Q: Can I switch my entry category before the briefs are sent out for competing?
A: Category switches are not allowed.
Q: Can I change partners once registration has been submitted?
A: Yes but we have to be informed by by Wednesday 14 March 2018. Please email the details to chaifongng@mediacorp.com.sg.
Q: Is there a fee for registration?
A: Yes. The registration fee is $60, inclusive of GST.
Q: If we entered last year, are we able to participate again?
A: : As long as you and your partner are both under the age of 30 and are Singaporeans or Singapore permanent residents, you may enter the competition regardless of how many years you have entered previously.
Q: Do I have to work with the same partner each year?
A: You may choose to work with whomever you wish. You can work with the same partner year after year or you can choose a new one, as long as both partners are under the age of 30 and must provide proof of age upon registration.
Q: If my friend and I are both art directors, are we able to team up and enter the print category?
A: Yes. However please indicate the person working on the copy as copywriter in the registration form.
Q: I am not a Singapore citizen but I am currently working in Singapore. Can I still compete?
A: The competition is only open to Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents. The winners of Mediacorp Young Lions Competition will be competing as representatives of Singapore in Cannes.
Q: Can I enter if my birthdate is is 22 June 1987?
A: No. Eligibility is limited to individuals born after is 22 June 1987.
Competition
Q: Do we have to present our final submissions or will they just be reviewed by the judging panel?
A: Final submissions will be reviewed by the judging panel, there is no presentation to the judges.
Q: We have some additional questions for the client. Is it possible to contact them directly?
A: No. The process for the Mediacorp Young Lions Competition involves a written brief only. If you have specific questions, please email us upon receiving the brief and we will do our best to answer your questions.
Q: Can we send two versions for our campaign?
A: No. Please submit only one.
Q: Are we allowed to submit a written explanation to accompany our entry?
A: Written explanations are not allowed. The judges will have read the brief and your entry should speak for itself.
Results
Q: Will all participants be notified of the winners?
A: Yes. The winners will be announced at the Results Night event on 18 April 2018 and all participants are invited to attend. After the event, a congratulatory email will be sent out announcing the winners and informing everyone about the competition and its success. The winners will also be announced on the Mediacorp Young Lions Competition website.
Q: Will the Mediacorp Young Lions Competition entries be displayed somewhere?
A: Yes. All the works will be exhibited at the Results Night event.
